Senior Activities/Graduation Information 2020

Dear Triton Families,

We know that our current state of affairs has been devastating for our seniors and their families.  It is our goal here at SCHS to celebrate this very special class and all of their achievements throughout their K-12 experience.  As stated in an earlier communication, due to the health and safety guidance from our state we will need to modify our end of year senior activities and events.  Our district provided our families a survey in April to gain information on the planning and orchestration of our commencement programs.  Over seventy percent of those surveyed indicated that they would prefer to postpone our 2020 Commencement to July in a hope to have a live in-person event. In an effort to bring closure to the school year, while still honoring our seniors, we will be implementing the following schedule of events here at SCHS:

• On May 21, 2020 we will be posting our Annual Senior Awards Ceremony to honor academic, artistic, athletic and leadership achievement and our community scholarships in a digital format.  

• Photos for the Senior Celebration Video are being accepted now through Friday, May 22, 2020. Please click on the following link: forms.gle/gzutKbFdpHPWGd3N9 (Please note that the student must use their CUSD login to access this google form)

• On May 29, 2020 we will be hosting our cap, gown and senior awards regalia distribution. This will be conducted in a scheduled drive through format between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Details for this event will be sent out on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. Feel free to decorate your cars as we will have staff on hand to celebrate the class of 2020.

• On June 4, 2020 we will post our Senior Celebration Video.  

• On July 24, 2020 we will host our 2020 Commencement Ceremony according to the social distancing restrictions that may impact how this ceremony is structured.  Our ultimate goal is to host a ceremony as close to our traditional commencement as possible.  

Currently, we are working to refund our seniors who purchased the Senior Brunch and BBQ.  These checks will be mailed home beginning this week.  Unfortunately, due to the shutdown of the Jostens production factory in California, our yearbook will not be arriving before the end of the school year.  We are currently working with Jostens on distribution options.  We will be providing students with a digital version of the yearbook and a virtual signature program prior to June 4, 2020.  We have had several inquiries regarding the status of Grad Nite.  As a separate organization, Grad Nite will be communicating directly with senior families in the next week.

We will continue to keep you updated on our upcoming events and we look forward to celebrating this senior class in person.  Our faculty and staff are extremely proud of the Class of 2020 and we look forward to honoring them.
